Гукер Джозеф Долтон – Hooker Joseph Dalton (1817-1911)

Английский ботаник и путешественник, последователь и пропагандист учения Ч. Дарвина, директор Королевского ботанического сада в Кью (1865-1885), президент Лондонского королевского общества (1873-1878), иностранный член-корреспондент Петербургской академии наук (1859).

Один из основателей исторической биогеографии растений на основе эволюционного учения Ч. Дарвина. Генезис флор южного полушария, становление антитропических ареалов вследствие плейстоценового похолодания климата в низких широтах.
